Silent Range Estate’s Tim and Lisbeth Long were thrilled to be featured in the recently released North East Cookbook 2 – A Culinary Guide and Photographic Journey of North East Victoria and Beyond. In the second cookbook of this renowned series, yet more culinary gems of north east Victoria are showcased. Some are well known, while others, like Silent Range Estate are just waiting to be discovered. As this beautifully photographed cookbook demonstrates, you can’t help but be delighted and tempted by the diversity and deliciousness of the local produce, products, food and wine of the region, all so passionately and lovingly used in so many creative ways by its residents.

The North East Cookbook 2 showcases two of our favourite recipes that we love to share whether it’s making, or catching or eating with family and friends. Our Hand Made Pasta With Love recipe we have recently shared, but our Star Anise and Cinnamon Panna Cotta with Warby Range Fruits is just begging for friends.
There is just a wonderful cornucopia of stone fruits and berries that are produced from the Warby Range from late October through to the end of April, with much of it being able to be picked or purchased at farm gate or the local farmers’ markets. We love this time of year with its warmer days, simple evening meals outside and lively conversations over who picked (or ate) the most fruit that day. Two of our favourite suppliers are Russ and Joy at Cherrytime Orchard and Carolyn, Allen and Graham from Greta Vale Orchard.
While a simple fruit platter of Warby Range cherries, boysenberries and brambleberries served with our 2008 Sparkling Shiraz is hard to resist, a truly indulgent treat is to accompany the fruit with our delicious Pannacotta and our 2011 Sweet Georgia Rose.
