The geography of the Warby Ranges

Silent Range Estate incorporates its vineyards, winery and cellar door operations on the eastern slopes of the Warby Range close to Glenrowan. The region consistently produces outstanding wines due to its ideal growing conditions.

Historical low harvest rainfall and cooler overnight temperatures allows the fruit to develop concentrated flavours while still retaining lifted aromatics. The Warby Ranges are the predominant geological formation in this region.

They were formed over millions of years via marine deposits and several faults lifted up part of the granite to form the Warby Ranges. Variations of soil types exist within the region, which vary from decomposed granite, earthy sands to strongly structured clays.
